An MC (Master of Ceremonies, aka emcee) plays a crucial role in banquets, performances, and ceremonies because the job requires the skill and sensitivity to handle any situation, rundown, or mishaps. As a celebrated MC on Toby, Iki is well-known for her dedication, agility, professionalism, and positivity. Realizing the importance of being agile, Iki was able to stay calm and worked to advance her career and personal development while most people struggled to cope with the pandemic.

The Road to Online Facilitation
Talking about her transition from an event MC to an online facilitator, Iki admitted that it was the pandemic that pushed her to explore other opportunities. She shared, “Compared to my work as a wedding MC, I now have the opportunity to host Zoom meetings and medical and health forums on Facebook Live. These experiences have definitely enriched me.” Iki confessed that it hasn’t been easy working as an online facilitator as it requires her to spontaneously interact with the audience and handle enquiries, all of which calls for her full attention. In the case of medical forums, a facilitator is required to have sufficient medical knowledge, to be acquainted with the relevant terms, and to make the necessary preparations beforehand. These experiences have helped Iki expand her knowledge and horizons; and she believes that being an emcee is not just a job, but a pathway for her to see the world.
The pandemic has posed many difficulties for the wedding industry, but Iki has remained positive and is willing to brave new challenges in this new normal. Due to the attendance and venue restrictions imposed by the government, many wedding banquets are forced to take place in the afternoon and Iki has worked hard to optimize the wedding rundown to create a pleasant experience for her clients. Her professionalism and dedication have certainly paid off and earned her rave reviews on Toby.
Stepping out of Her Comfort Zone
Even though the pandemic has affected the livelihood of many, Iki sees it as an opportunity to enrich herself. She shared, “I learned to play the guzheng during the pandemic. It is not only my hobby, but it has also given me the chance to take part in performances.” Even in face of adversity, Iki has never let herself become idle and took the initiative to boost her knowledge. She said, “The wedding industry relies heavily on connections, so during the pandemic, I decided to take lessons and earned floral design certificates from both BHL of Korea and AUBE of Japan and started to network with wine distributors, bridal shops, and wedding photographers, so that I can venture into other businesses.” Unwilling to stay stagnant in face of crisis, Iki made the bold decision to step out her comfort zone and learn more skills to become an all-rounded MC.
Fame & Motivation
Aside fromemceeing, Iki has recently become a slasher and works as a travel reporter and makeup artist. Toby offers 100+ service categories that can help slashers connect with a wider audience and the Toby Pro app has allowed them to easily pair with customers, manage their work schedule, and handle job requests. Iki confessed that her business has gone up since joining Toby and the title of “Top Pro” and Toby’s marketing have increased her exposure and made her stand out from the crowd. Iki said, “Becoming a Top Pro and being recognized by clients have motivated me to become better at my job.” Iki’s passion and dedication for her work have given her clients a memorable experience and she vows that she will continue to serve her clients with the same professionalism and positivity.
